UPI down : Frequent technical issues and their impact
Upi has become a major hub in digital payments Through this, people can transfer money quickly and easily. But since the last few days, there have been interruptions in the payment, due to which people are facing problems.

Frequent disruptions in UPI down
On April 12, 2025, major UPI apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm witnessed technical issues. Down Doctor has over 2000 user complaints registered against it, which include complaints of payment failure and delayed transactions. This was the third time this month that such a problem occurred in UPI’s payment.
Problems in UPI services of banks too
Similar problems have been faced in Bank of Baroda and State Bank of India too. SBI Bank has also filed a report on 11 March 2025 regarding the problem in payment of UPI And users are asked to uplight it.
“Decline in UPI transactions”
In November 2024, there was a 7% decline in the number of UPI transactions and an 8% decline in transaction value. In October, there were 16.58 billion transactions, whereas in December, this number dropped to 15.48 billion.
Users’ feedback
On social media, people have repeatedly expressed concerns about the issues with declining UPI transactions. Many users reported that their money was deducted, but it has not reached their account. The recurring issues with UPI downtime are a matter of concern. There is a need to take some measures to resolve these problems so that users’ trust in the digital payment system remains intact.
We can see how extensively UPI will be used in the coming time, but if such problems keep occurring, then you tell me—how will people trust digital payments, and how will they increase its usage day by day? According to NPCI, crores of transactions take place every day, and during festive sales, the traffic increases even more, which puts additional load on the servers. Many times, issues arise on the bank’s end. UPI is based on various APIs, and if any one of them fails, the entire transaction system can be disrupted.
